Lefcowitz"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>3: 00 a.m. Eastern Daylight Savings Time.<br \/>\nMy roof is a ballroom, the tempo<br \/>\nof its rain-dance ranging from tap<br \/>\nto tango to foxtrot to waltz, a slow<br \/>\nsarabande, intermittent soft-shoe<br \/>\nuntil the occasional surf<br \/>\nof distant cars is the only music left.<\/p>\n<p>Strings of rain have rewound themselves<br \/>\nback into the clouds that gave them birth.<br \/>\nI hum one of my mother\u2019s favorite songs,<br \/>\nas if a few notes from Amapola<br \/>\ncould unscatter her ashes<br \/>\nnow tossing in distant, disconnected seas<br \/>\nand she could sing me to sleep<br \/>\nfor at least a few hours.<\/p>\n<p>What music will the dawn bring?<br \/>\nThe weatherman predicts<br \/>\na blue desert of sky,<br \/>\nsilent and endless.
