I wanted the position quite badly.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a form of civic engagement. I work with the Portland Public Library to implement community-related programs around poetry. Each Poet Laureate has done that differently. I\u2019ve been doing it by facilitating workshops and creating a database for trans artists and doing a community hub and open mic.
