Christened the <i>Horst<\/i> <i>Wessel<\/i>\u2014a tribute to a fallen Storm Trooper leader turned Nazi martyr\u2014her June 13 launch was a meticulously staged spectacle of state power. Adolf Hitler \u201chimself\u201d looked on as Deputy F\u00fchrer Rudolf Hess delivered the keynote.
