The talented older brother of Portland’s legendary director John Ford steps out of the shadows.

The Searchers. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. The Grapes of Wrath. How Green Was My Valley. The Quiet Man. The Cape Elizabeth native who directed these classic films would most likely be unknown today if it were not for Frank Feeney, alias Francis Ford, director John Ford’s big brother.

John Ford, winner of six Academy Awards (four movies, two documentaries), an achievement still unsurpassed, grew up on Munjoy Hill. He followed Frank to Hollywood in 1914.
