You must have real insight into the music of math, and vice versa, from your computer science studies at Stanford. Can you tell us how math and music inform your composing and performaning? We suspect it goes a lot deeper than the similarity between GOTO 10 in Basic programming and  D.C. al fine!

Haha, “GOTO 10” brings back memories. Yes, the relationship between math and music is a lot deeper than that, but also a lot fuzzier. I tend to think of it as intellectual and embodied ways of understanding the same stuff. There’s the mechanics of it: you can write out numbers divisible by 7 and you can feel 7/8 time in your body as you play a song in that time signature. And then in both disciplines, you can put those mechanics in service of beauty, of experiencing reality in a new light, of making something genuinely useful in people’s lives.
