We’re seated in the Veranda Room at Clay Hill Farm, near the 1780 heart of the original farmhouse—a space that somehow evokes the cozy Technicolor glow of Holiday Inn. There’s a built-in hardwood dance floor, the light is golden, the paneling is warm and quietly elegant. Through a vast picture window, a bird sanctuary drifts by like we’re in a movie, but it’s real.
