Stow away in this Summer Street Italianate mansion—for a lifetime!

In 1848, 21-year-old Kennebunk sailor John Adams Lord stepped off the edge of his known world. Voyaging aboard the Henry Ware, he visited New Orleans, Liverpool, Calcutta, and San Francisco. By 1852, he was back in Kennebunk, where he married Lucy Amanda Warren. Life was good. His local ventures in milling cotton were taking off, and together the couple moved to this manse at 32 Summer Street in 1856.
