You can take the girl out of Maine, but Maine follows wherever life lands you. When a Mainer lights up the stage in New York, the diaspora stirs. This past winter, that beacon was Portland’s own Andrea Martin, stepping into High Spirits, Noël Coward’s Blithe Spirit reincarnated as a musical. Though Martin’s run at City Center will be long over by the time you read this, her performance has the staying power of a postcard from home—a reminder that Mainers find each other, even 1,400 seats up in Midtown.
