Renowned social realist artist Ben Shahn (1898-1969) has deep roots in Maine.
He taught and lectured at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture seven times between 1954 and 1965, and his daughter, Abby Shahn, one of Maine’s most revered artists, has been creating here since moving to her studio and home in Solon from NYC in 1969.
