Seller Douglas Kay’s grandfather, a Lew- iston doctor, bought Little Reynard first. Af- ter searching the Maine coast for a dreamy fit, he snapped up Tidewinds because its boathouse was so ideal. Kay, a retired IBM executive, says, “My grandfather purchased this home in June, 1958. The only reason he purchased this lo- cation was because of the boat facilities.” Designed in 1947 by naval architect Philip L. Rhodes, the 40-foot Little Reynard was “built at Henry B. Nevins yard at City Island, New York.” Little Reynard was created for Dr. Aus- tin Lamont, the son of Thomas Wil- liam Lamont, a partner at J.P. Morgan so shrewd in his investments he appeared on the cover of Time Magazine.
